CDEM: Francophone Tourism: An Opportunity to Expand Your Economy

Katie Fowler holds her Master of Arts from the University of Manitoba, specializing in tourism, and is currently the Interim Director of Tourism for the Economic Development Council for Manitoba Bilingual Municipalities (CDEM), where she has been working since Spring 2023. At CDEM, her team leads regional, provincial, and federal projects to encourage the development of bilingual tourism products and services existing in Manitoba, and provides support services to bilingual entrepreneurs and communities within the province. Prior to joining CDEM, Katie worked as a tourism consultant, working on projects including regional tourism strategies, interpretation, experience development, and tour guide services, and was a volunteer coordinator for 15 years for various festivals in Winnipeg, including the TD Winnipeg International Jazz Festival and the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. When not working, Katie puts her culinary skills to use as a fourth-generation professional cook/baker, and enjoys traveling, hiking, and taking in all that Winnipeg has to offer in its arts and culture scene.
